J.A.F is a software that is used to Flash,Unlock,Reprogram dead phones,and also perform factory settings.J.A.F is mainly used for Flashing NOKIA phones,J.A.F is third party flasher which supports USB flashing.USB flashing is very good and useful because in case a new phone come out, the user can IMMEDIATELY FLASH THE PHONE, he doesn't need to wait for new F-Bus cable release and to pay expensive delivery costs.

Setting J.A.F On Windows XP

Software Needed for a successful Flash Platform

Before staring installing J.A.F on Microsoft Windows XP,you need to know what are the other software needed to be able to access J.A.F and be able to download firmware from NOKIA Care Center and also use the cracked version of J.A.F also called "P-Key emulator".

The P-Key emulator is a software that enable us to use J.A.F without the box it self to perform flash on mobile phones,it reset the counter each time when we launch J.A.F to ensure that we have 99.99% life time at counter and we can flash as many time as we want to.There is also another software called "NaviFirm",this software enable us to download firmware directly via a proxy at NOKIA care center,we can get all the Nokia firmware at home itself without having to search like a mad on the internet.

NB:You will get all the software links for download at the end of the page.

So lets start ,Installing the software on our PC:

1. First of all download the softwares(J.A.F,NaviFirm,Pkey Emulator)all these software has been provided by me,see download links at the end of the page.
2. Ensure that you have Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed on your PC.
3. Unpack the rar file"JAFSetup_1.98.62www.mobfornob.weebly.com.rar" to your local disk like this C:\jaf\
4. After unpacking the rar file,you will get "JAFSetup_1.98.62.exe",install it on your pc,you will notice that it also install Nokia Connectivity cable on your PC,if u already have "Nokia PC Suite or Nokia Suite "on your PC,it will say new device driver found,select the option "Continue Anyway".
5. J.A.F software is now successfully installed on your PC,now you need to download the Pkey emulator"JAF_PKEY_Emulator_by_COSMO_V2.0.1www.mobfornob.weebly.com",after yo downladed the Pkey emulator,extract it to C:\Program Files\ODEON\JAF
6. After you finished extracting the file to C:\Program Files\ODEON\ you will have now the following executable "JAF JAF_PKEY_Emulator_by_COSMO_V2.0.1.exe" found in the directory.
7. The next step is to make sure that every time when you launch J.A.F the counter must be at 99.99%,so from desktop itself you right click on J.A.F shortcut  you will get the properties of the shortcut,you select "shortcut" and you will see the line "Target:" so you paste this code:"C:\Program Files\ODEON\JAF\JAF_PKEY_Emulator_by_COSMO_V2.0.1.exe"  as it is and select "APPLY" and "OK",so now your done with J.A.F and Pkey emulator.
8. The next step is to ensure that you have all firmwares from Nokia Care Center,so you have to download the software "NaviFirm",after successfully haven download he program,now you have all the required software that is very useful to flash your mobile.
9. YOU CAN NOW START FLASHING ANY NOKIA MOBILE PHONE.

NAVIFIRM -How to use it.

Now,am going to explain step by step,how to download firmwares from NOKIA Care Center via a small program called "NaviFirm".

Lets Start:

1. Open the executable "NaviFirm.exe".
2. Locate your actual mobile phone for eg: Nokia 5800XpressMusic.
3. At the back of the phone,when you remove the battery,you will find something like this,in my case its : "RM-356".
4. After you located the code for me its RM-356,now there you will find out another code,its a 7 number  code,in my case its 0577493.
5. Now select the mobile phone model and also check the RM,it must be matching.
6. Select the version of the firmware,you will notice that there is a lot of versions,i will recommend you to select the last one as you are a newbie,and therefore recommend will let you play it safe.In my case i will select the version 60.0.3
7. Now you will use the 7 number code to input in the search bar and click search,in my case i will input the code 0577493.
8. The program itself will look for the code and give you the firmware.
9. Now create a New Folder in desktop and name it as the RM,in my case it will be "RM-356".
10. Select all the files that it displays on the right column and press"Download with a program" button and select the folder that you created  earlier in desktop and press OK.
11. Now just wait that the download is complete.
12. Now you are done with NaviFirm.

How to Flash your nokia mobile phone without any box

How to Flash your nokia phone.

1.The Procedure

You need these tools. So download them:

Nokia Ovi Suite or Connectivity Cable Driver

Navifirm

JAF tool and Pkey (Nokia Flash Tools.rar)

Dot Net framework (at least version 2 for WinXP user)

Install Nokia Ovi Suite & Backup Your Phone

Install Nokia Ovi Suite and back up your phone especially your contacts, message etc. In fact, just backup everything because prior to flashing your phone, we need to hard reset it and format your phone memory card to avoid any potential error later on. Hard reset will erase all your contacts, message, phone setting etc. So back them up using Nokia Ovi Suite.

Even if you don’t want to back up your phone, it is essential to install Nokia Ovi Suite for the driver purpose. Otherwise, JAF tool can’t see your mobile phone at later stage.

Download Your Phone Original Firmware

Now we need to download your phone’s original firmware using NAVIFIRM. Originally, we flash our phone using Ovi Suite or PC Suite right. This suite automatically detects our phone hardware and software then downloads and installs the relevant firmware for our phone automagically. However, for this one we need to manually select and download the right firmware for our phone.

Extract and run NAVIFIRM. Mine is as shown below.

Choose your phone model correctly. As we can see here, there are 3 variant of Nokia 5800XM. The RM-356, RM-427 and RM-428. Different model number use different kind of hardware. So, do not download firmware for RM-427 or RM-428 if your phone model is RM-356. You can check your phone model by typing *#0000#. Look for Type.

‘Release’s is firmware version. Ensure that the firmware you are going to flash into your phone (the one you are about to download using NAVIFIRM now) is newer (or at least has same version number) than the one that already in your phone. Downgrading firmware will definitely brick your phone. You may check with your phone firmware by typing *#0000# too. As for my case, my current phone firmware is 51.0.6. So, I have to download ‘releases’ version 51.0.6 or later (in this case, 51.0.6 is the latest one).

Next, choose your phone variant. My Nokia 5800XM is for Malaysian market and has ‘red lining’. Therefore I chose “APAC1 RED MALAYSIA (0570196)”. If you are not from Malaysia, for example Indonesia and your phone has blue lining, you may want to choose “APAC1 Indonesia BLUE (0559960)” variant.

Finally for the files section. Just tick them all. And press “Download from FiRe” button. Save the files into “Your phone model number” folder. As for my case, I save them into a folder name RM-356 on my Desktop

Preparing JAF Tools

JAF Tools is the software that we will use to transfer your complete CFW into your mobile phone. So, follow the steps below to prepare it. It consist of JAF installation and copy paste 2 files (ini file and PKEY emulator) into JAF installed directory.

Extract “Nokia Flash Tools.rar” (the one you download for JAF and PKey). You will find “JAFSetup_198.62.rar” file, “OGM_JAF_PKEY_Emulator_v 5.rar” and “(.INI FILE)(jaf_nok4models).rar” file. Extract all the 3 files.

Install “JAFSetup_1.98.62.exe” at its default location.

Copy “Jaf_nok4models.ini” and “OGM_JAF_PKEY_Emulator_v 5.exe” into “C:\Program Files\ODEON\JAF” or “C:\Program Files (x86)\ODEON\JAF” if you are using 64 bit operating system.

Then, make a shortcut for “OGM_JAF_PKEY_Emulator_v 5.exe” emulator to your desktop for easy access later on.

If you happen to use Windows Vista or Windows 7 (32 bit or 64bit), you have to change JAF PKey Emulator’s compatibility first. Right click on the JAF Pkey Emulator and choose properties. Click on Compatibility tab and set compatibility mode to Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and set privilege level as Run this program as an administrator as shown in the screenshot below:

Run the JAF Pkey Tool from your desktop.

Ensure the setting as in the screenshot above. Then click GO.

An error box will appear. Don’t worry, just click OK button.

Then, JAF will start. Click on BB5 tab.

Ensure that Manual Flash, Dead USB, Normal Mode and Use INI are checked. Uncheck CRT 308.

Then select your phone model. As for my case, I have to choose RM-356 as expected. Next, click OK.

If you do everything correctly, your JAF will look like as the screenshot below.

All four green circles will light up (MCU, PPM, CNT, APE Variant).

And ensure the path for the firmware (as in the marked red square) is right.

Next, TURN OFF your phone and connect it to the computer USB. (It is recommended to shutdown OVI Suite completely. Right click OVI Suite icon in the tray (if you happen to run it before) and choose exit).

Click on FLASH button.

A warning dialog box will appear, click YES.

Then, press your phone’s “Power Button” for 1 second and release. Just 1 second. Not more. Else your phone will start up. WE DON’T WANT your phone to start up. We just want to allow JAF detect our phone.

Once the JAF could detect our phone, the flash job will start.

Note: Whenever JAF need to detect the phone, press your phone’s power button for 1 second.

Wait for a minute or two until the flashing process is totally completed (indicated by a series of ‘ting’ sound)

Flashing Nokia Phone Using Phoenix Service Software

FAQ

Q : Why upgrade to the latest Firmware needed ?

A : Because the latest Firmware can solve a lot of bugs such as slow messaging, slow opening gallery, RAM issue, etc.

Q : I have Nokia phone that still in warranty why must i follow your tutorial while i can upgrade in Nokia Center ?

A : You’re right. You don’t need this one. Please go to “Nokia Center” to upgrade yourFirmware free of charge.

Q : Why offline? You can use online update with Nokia Software Updater (NSU).

A : That’s because someone may had a bad Internet connection.

If downloads from rapidshare failed, you can just re-download again and again,

BUT if download (online update) through NSU failed then your phone is DEAD.

Q : I have N70 or N73 or another N-series. I want to upgrade to Music Edition or Internet Edition with the latest Firmware. Is that possible ?

A : Yes. This is what i have done. Just follow this article.

Q : My phone is not listed. Do i need to upgrade ?

A : You’re using old-fashion mobile phone (no offense, lol). Then you can read the rest of this article but you won’t need upgrade your phone.

Q : If flashing failed and my phone dead what should I do ?

A : Then you should read more careful my article. No I’m kidding, Don’t worry about that. You can flash dead phones too.

Q. Flashing failed, I can not do anything, “Dead Phone flashing” not work, what now?

A. Bring your phone to nearest “Nokia Service Store”  :(

3. Phoenix 2009 or 2010 or later Versions (available in the end of article)

4. Offline Firmware for your Nokia type. *(Size vary 30 MB – 300 MB)  

- Check your current Firmware by pressing *#0000# in your mobile phone. Write down somewhere.

- Visit HERE to download latest Firmware for your phone.

- Choose your Nokia type or Search the Site.

- Choose your latest Firmware with region on your country and download.  

APAC = stand for Asia and Pacific

EMEA = stand for Europe, Middle East and Africa

EURO = stand for Europe

MEA = stand for Middle East and Africa

LTA = stand for Latin America

SEAP = stand for South East Asia Pacific

Preparation

1. In your PC :

*. Create restore point through Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. Name it ‘Before flashing‘ click create.
*. Remove Nokia PC Suite, Nokia Software Updater, Nokia Care Suite, Nokia Modem Drivers, Nokia Connectivity Drivers through Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, but DO NOT REMOVE PC Connectivity Solution and Windows – Nokia Modem.

*. Restart your PC.
*. Do not connect your phone before installing Phoenix software.
*. Disable all antivirus, firewall, anti-spyware, anti-malware etc.
*. Disable screen saver.
*. Check C:Program filesNokiaPhoenixProducts If you have those folder in there delete all.

2. In your mobile phone :

*. Backup all your mobile phone content since all your data will be lost after flashing. (If you phone is dead, skip this step!)
*. If you protect your memory card with password, then remove it.
*. Remove your memory card from your mobile phone.
*. Go to Tools > Settings > Security > Phone and SIM.  
- Set Pin code request to Off.
- Set Autolock period to None.
- Set Lock code to default password which is 12345.
- Set Lock if SIM changed to No.  
*. Uninstall your mobile antivirus. (if you have any)
*. Charge your phone battery to at least 70% and keep charging. (Although flashing takes only 7-10 minutes.)

Begin Flashing
 
1. Install Phoenix Service Software 2001 or later : 
 
*. First Extract the archive you have downloaded which contains Phoenix Service Software 2011 or later Here
*. Install the software. Be patient, it may take some minutes to install all the components.
*. Don’t run Phoenix software after installation.
*. Connect your Nokia handset to your PC with USB cable in PC Suite mode.
*. windows will start installing the connectivity drivers as soon as you connect the phone. Let it install completely.  
- If this process failed then you must be remove PC Connectivity Solution. But don’t worry we created restore point earlier remember.
- Restore your system and start remove Nokia component again but do not remove PC Connectivity Solution. 

2. Install Offline Firmware Package You Downloaded :  
- If your Firmware file is in .RAR format, first extract it using WinRar on desktop.
- On desktop you will find .EXE file of your Firmware file.
- Install the EXE file. Do not change its path. It will install it to default location of C:Program files/Nokia/Phoenix/Products  
- If you have downloaded a Firmware file which doesn’t have an auto setup, then just copy your Extracted folder Manually in the directory C:Program files/Nokia/Phoenix/Products
- Be sure you install updated Firmware. You cannot downgrade your phone’s Firmware in BB5 phones which includes all new Nokia phones including N-Series. (N82, N90, ….) (But there is still some tricks!)
- Phoenix allows downgrading but your phone doesn’t allow it as your phone has some special security built into. So no use of trying it. You’ll get an error message.

3. Flashing Procedure (Updating to latest Firmware version) :  
- Open Phoenix Service Software by double click on the icon from your desktop.
- Connect your phone in PC Suite Mode.
- In Phoenix, click File > Manage Connections.
- Now click New.  
- Now select the type of cable you are using. If you are using DKE-2, CA-53 [N-Series] cable, select USB.

- Click Next. It will find your product and say FOUND. If it doesn’t find any, you can try changing your cable type by clicking Back. 

- Click Next and then Finish.

- Now your cable type (USB) appears in the connection list. Select it. Click APPLY and thenCLOSE. 

- Now select File > Open Product.  

- A list of RM code will open. Select your phone’s RM code. Like RM-133 for Nokia N73 or RM-84 for Nokia N70 and other nokia’s with there corresponding Rm Types but choose the one which corresponds to your phone! Click OK. At this steps if you receive an error its okay. Just ignore it.  

- Now select File > Scan Product.

- Your phone’s Firmware info will appear at the extreme bottom of the Phoenix window.

- Now go to Flashing > Firmware Update.

- A window will open.

- On that window click Browse button (the one with three dots)

- A window will open with various products and various regions. Choose the region or country of your choice according to the language pack you want to install.
- Click OK.
- Click Refurbish.
- Now your actual flashing has started.

DO NOT TOUCH! 
Don’t touch your phone or press any button until the flashing has finished. 
Also don’t touch your data cable and your computer system. 
Remember don’t Touch! (Still touching?)

 

- At the end Phoenix will tell you to remove your phone as the flashing has finished.

- Now wait for your phone to reboot into latest Firmware.

- The flashing procedure takes 7-10 minutes

4. Flashing Dead Phones [Which show only white screen on startup] :  
Note: You can install any Firmware in dead phones whether it is latest and or the old one.
Note (Again): You can make a dead phone if you want! Just unplug your cable while flashing!

The procedure is almost same as regular flashing.
 
- Start Phoenix. Connect your phone with USB Cable (phone is off at this time). 
- Click File > Open Product. Select your RM code from the window that appears. Click OK.
- Click File > Manage Connections. Select No Connection. Then APPLY and CLOSE.
- Now straight away click Flashing > Firmware Update.

- A window will open. Click on Browse button. (the one with 3 dots) 
- A window will open with various products and various regions. Choose the region or country of your choice according to the language pack you want to install.
- Here is different part, check the option “Dead Phone USB Flashing”.
- Click Refurbish.
- Flashing has started.

- After some seconds flashing will pause and asking you to turn your phone ON. (Or maybe not, It depends on phone)

- Press POWER button of your phone until backlight comes up. Remember not to remove your cable or even remove it accidentally will switching on your phone!!

- Flashing will proceed.

- Your phone will automatically start when the flashing finishes.

After finish you can safely remove your data cable from Phone. FINISHED!!!

5. Extra

If you want to install another update to your phone after some months, first remove the previous version you installed in “C:Program files/Nokia/Phoenix/Products”

 

Delete all the contents of Products folder before installing a new Firmware.
